Vendor at Christmas Market

The Municipality of Brockton issues licenses for individuals and businesses wishing to sell goods and services within Brockton. There are two types of licenses currently issued:

  1. Outdoor Vending/Refreshment Vehicle Licenses - For refreshment vehicles/food trucks and individuals selling goods/services outdoors on municipal property
  2. Transient Trader Licensing - For individuals selling goods or services on an intermittent or one-time basis.

These two licenses are governed under two different By-Laws. Staff are looking to create one Vendor Licensing By-Law to provide clarity on these licenses, vendor responsibilities, and license fees.

The Municipality is looking for your feedback as we update these By-Laws. Your anonymous feedback will be considered as part of a report to Council later this Fall, with a new Vendor Licensing By-Law being brought forward by the end of the year.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

Brockton has seen an increase in events hosted throughout the year featuring local vendors, such as Summer Streetfest, Hometown Christmas Market, and two recent Homecomings. The Municipality has received more inquiries and requests for these types of licenses.

Currently, the Municipality issues two types of vendor licenses under two (2) separate By-Laws:

    1. Outdoor Vending/Refreshment Vehicle Licenses - For refreshment vehicles/food trucks and individuals selling goods/services outdoors on municipal property
    2. Transient Trader Licensing - For individuals selling goods or services on an intermittent or one-time basis.

These two licenses follow different procedures and charge different fees. Staff are reviewing these two By-Laws in order to create one Vendor Licensing By-Law that provides more clarity on what should be allowed in Brockton, including the responsibilities of vendors, and the fees they should pay for a license.

We are seeking your feedback to improve this licensing process and incorporate your considerations into the development of the new By-Law.

Surveys will close on November 25, 2024 at Noon.
