In 2020, the Municipality of Brockton initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) process to address an ongoing erosion issue along the north bank of the Saugeen River adjacent to the Valleyside Drive subdivision at the north end of Walkerton. A number of approaches were investigated by B.M. Ross and Associates Ltd. to address the erosion problem. The alterative approaches were presented to Brockton Council on January 10, 2023. Council selected Alternative 4 as the preferred approach which is to install erosion protection at the toe of the slope and leave the upper slope as is.

Residents were invited to attend a Public Information Meeting on February 1, 2023 to ask questions of the project engineers, review the preferred preliminary approach, and provide their comments as the EA process comes to a conclusion.
